Guided Fly Fishing Trip Rates

Flyshot Outfitters provides a premium, seamless on-water experience. Our rates reflect the high level of gear, preparation, and professional guide work required to deliver a timeless day on Montana’s blue-ribbon rivers.

We don't believe in hidden fees or checkout surprises. The rate you see is the rate you pay. To keep your experience seamless, we absorb all credit card processing fees for your completed trip. (Please note that credit card fees are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation; see our policy below for details.)

What’s Included

  • Professional Guide Services: A full or half day on the water with a licensed Montana guide focused on instruction, safety, and a low-pressure environment.

  • Premium Tackle: Use of high-quality rods, reels, and fly lines.

  • Terminal Tackle: All flies, leaders, and tippet required for the day.

  • Food & Drink: A high-quality lunch (Full-Day trips only), alongside snacks and non-alcoholic beverages. Depending on river traffic, we will either utilize established public picnic areas or enjoy lunch comfortably on the boat to minimize our impact on fragile riverbanks.

What’s Not Included

  • Montana Fishing License: All anglers must possess a valid Montana fishing license prior to the trip.

  • Wading Equipment: Waders and boots are not provided. If your trip requires them, they can be rented locally; please contact us for recommendations.

  • Guide Gratuities: Customary in the industry and a direct reflection of your guide’s hard work and instruction. (Cash is preferred).

  • Transportation: Clients are generally expected to meet their guide at a pre-arranged location or local fly shop.

A note on refunds: Because third-party payment processors do not refund transaction fees to our business, any trip canceled outside of our 30-day window and refunded to a credit card will be subject to a 4% administrative fee to cover those unrecovered costs. You can bypass this entirely by choosing to pay your invoice via ACH bank transfer or check.

For complete details on how we handle bookings, refunds, and guide protections, please review our Payment Policy and Cancellation Policy.

  • To maintain the safety and premium quality of our trips, Flyshot Outfitters enforces a strict maximum capacity of two (2) clients per guide, for both float and wade trips.

    • We do not allow three clients in a single drift boat under any circumstances.

    • If you have a group of three or more anglers, a second guide and boat will be required. This ensures every angler receives the instruction, space, and attention necessary for a successful day on the water.

  • We measure a great day on the river by the quality of the experience, rather than a rigid hourly schedule.

    • Pace & Flow: A guided day naturally ebbs and flows based on current fishing conditions, weather patterns, and your guide’s professional expertise. We let the river dictate the pace, ensuring a relaxed and low-pressure environment for you.

    • The Goal: Whether you book a full-day or a half-day, our priority is maximizing the most productive windows of opportunity. We focus on keeping you on the best water at the right time, and ensuring we end your trip on a high note feeling fully satisfied with the day.

  • We welcome young anglers who are eager to learn, but we maintain strict safety and legal protocols for minors on the water:

    • Fishing Licenses: Under Montana law, children ages 11 and under do not need a fishing license. Anyone aged 12 and older must possess a valid Montana fishing license prior to the trip.

    • Life Jackets: Montana law requires that children ages 11 and under must wear a properly fitted, Coast Guard-approved life jacket at all times while in the boat. Flyshot Outfitters provides these required life jackets. There are no exceptions to this safety rule.

    • Parent/Guardian Requirement: To ensure proper supervision and safety, any minor aged 15 or under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian on the boat or during a wade trip.

  • To ensure a seamless morning and maximize your time on the water, all anglers ages 12 and older must possess a valid Montana fishing license before arriving at the boat ramp. Guides cannot issue licenses on the water.

    • Purchase Online (Preferred): The fastest and easiest method is to buy your license directly through the official Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks (FWP) website. You can purchase a 2-day, 10-day, or season license depending on your travel plans.

    • Go Digital: We highly recommend downloading the official "MyFWP" mobile app. It allows you to purchase and carry a digital copy of your license on your phone, which is legally accepted on the river.

    • Purchase in Person: If you prefer a traditional paper copy, licenses can be purchased over the counter at any local fly shop or sporting goods store in Bozeman, Ennis, or surrounding towns prior to your trip.
