Weather & Water Conditions Policy

Effective Date: March 10, 2026

At Flyshot Outfitters, we operate in the dynamic environment of the Northern Rockies. Weather and water conditions change rapidly, and some of the most productive fishing happens under less-than-perfect skies or during high water events. We are committed to providing a premium, safe experience, which requires flexibility from both our guides and our clients.

1. We Fish Rain or Shine Guided trips are not canceled by the client due to weather forecasts, rain, snow, or wind. We expect our clients to arrive prepared for the elements. If you choose to cancel your trip based on a weather forecast or current conditions, your booking is subject to our standard Cancellation Policy, and your upfront payment will be forfeited to pay your scheduled guide.

2. Flexible Start and End Times Montana weather often dictates our schedule, and our guides have the authority to adjust start and end times to maximize safety and fishing quality.

  • Delayed Starts: If morning conditions are unseasonably cold or snowy, but forecasted to clear up, your guide may push the start time to late morning (e.g., 11:00 AM) to ensure a better experience.

  • Early Exits: During the summer months, intense afternoon thunderstorms frequently roll in between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. If your guide determines it is necessary to pull off the water early to avoid a lightning hazard, the trip is considered complete.

  • No Pro-Rating: Shortened days or shifted hours due to necessary weather and safety adjustments are billed as full days. No partial refunds or pro-rated discounts will be issued.

3. Water Conditions, Relocations, and Trip Pivots River conditions fluctuate due to runoff, heavy rain, or temperature spikes. High or muddy water is not a reason for cancellation; in fact, these conditions often produce our highest-quality fishing.

  • Location Changes: If your originally targeted river is deemed unsafe for floating, your guide will relocate your trip to another viable river or section of water.

  • Tactical Pivots: If high water makes drift boating unsafe across our primary rivers, your guide retains the authority to transition your day into a safe wade-fishing trip, or pivot to fishing productive area lakes.

  • Flexibility is mandatory. Changing the location or the style of fishing to prioritize safety does not constitute grounds for a client cancellation or refund.

4. Outfitter Cancellations The decision to completely cancel a trip is made strictly at the discretion of Flyshot Outfitters LLC and your guide. We will only cancel a trip prior to departure if regional weather or water conditions are so severe that absolutely no safe fishing options (float, wade, or lake) exist.

  • In this rare event, we will make every effort to reschedule your trip.

  • If rescheduling is impossible, you will receive a 100% full refund of your upfront payment, and Flyshot Outfitters will absorb any associated credit card processing fees.
